La industria de la traducci\u00f3n es muy diferente ahora de lo que era hace 15 a\u00f1os. En un mundo acelerado y gobernado por el cambio tecnol\u00f3gico, es comprensible que las empresas que operan globalmente deseen que las traducciones se entreguen con rapidez, pero sin merma de la calidad.<\/p>\n<\/div>

    Mismas palabras, distinto significado<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Consideremos un escenario hipot\u00e9tico. Supongamos que acudes a nosotros y nos encargas una traducci\u00f3n de 50 p\u00e1ginas. Podemos hacer la traducci\u00f3n en Microsoft Word o cualquier otro procesador de textos, y entreg\u00e1rtela a tiempo. Un poco m\u00e1s tarde, vuelves y encargas la traducci\u00f3n de un texto similar. En este segundo documento hay varias expresiones y otras partes de frases que tambi\u00e9n estaban presentes en el primer documento. Las llamamos \u00abrepeticiones\u00bb.<\/p>\n

    Los traductores recordar\u00e1n c\u00f3mo tradujeron algunas expresiones, pero no recordar\u00e1n exactamente todas palabra por palabra. Al fin y al cabo, los traductores son seres humanos y, cuando se trata de una traducci\u00f3n de 50 p\u00e1ginas, puede ocurrir que algunas frases y t\u00e9rminos sean ligeramente diferentes entre los documentos. Ahora bien, esto puede no ser un problema en la conversaci\u00f3n cotidiana, pero cuando se trata de jerga profesional, es inaceptable y puede causar una confusi\u00f3n considerable entre el p\u00fablico objetivo.<\/p>\n

    Entonces, \u00bfqu\u00e9 se puede hacer al respecto?<\/p>\n

    Traducir la jerga<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Aqu\u00ed es donde entran en juego las memorias<\/strong> de<\/strong> traducci\u00f3n<\/strong> y los programas de memorias de traducci\u00f3n<\/strong>, y es la raz\u00f3n por la que las agencias de traducci\u00f3n profesionales ya no traducen en Word (ni en ning\u00fan otro procesador de textos).<\/p>\n

    • El programa de memoria de traducci\u00f3n<\/strong> registra cada una de las partes de la primera traducci\u00f3n. A la hora de traducir el segundo documento, el programa advertir\u00e1 al traductor de que esa frase ya ha sido traducida. El resultado es una coherencia absoluta a trav\u00e9s de miles de p\u00e1ginas de traducciones.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • Cuando se trata de traducciones realmente grandes, ya habr\u00e1s adivinado que en ellas trabaja simult\u00e1neamente m\u00e1s de un traductor. Por tanto, una simple memoria de traducci\u00f3n no es suficiente, as\u00ed que recurrimos a una base de datos denominada servidor de<\/strong> gesti\u00f3n <\/strong>(o memoria) de traducci\u00f3n <\/strong>. La invenci\u00f3n revolucionaria aqu\u00ed es que cientos de traductores pueden trabajar sobre el mismo texto y producir una traducci\u00f3n perfecta porque el servidor registra cada parte del documento traducida previamente.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Gracias a estos m\u00e9todos modernos podemos preservar tanto la calidad como el estilo. Calidad, porque todas y cada una de las expresiones y frases traducidas previamente pueden reutilizarse una y otra vez; y estilo, porque el servidor de traducci\u00f3n no s\u00f3lo mostrar\u00e1 el t\u00e9rmino que se tradujo previamente, sino todo el contexto de ese t\u00e9rmino. Los traductores pueden incluso discutir y ponerse de acuerdo sobre la mejor versi\u00f3n a utilizar y el resultado siempre ser\u00e1 de m\u00e1xima calidad.<\/p>\n
