Financial Services

Business Team Translations has supported banks, insurance companies, investment managers, auditing firms, and corporate finance teams with professional financial translation services since 1999. Terminology, regulatory language, and numerical precision must align perfectly across every language a document appears in.

Financial documentation operates within an environment where a mistranslation in a contract clause, a disclosure document, or a compliance report is not merely a language error - it carries legal and regulatory consequences.

Our financial translators have professional backgrounds in banking, finance, accounting, or compliance - alongside their language qualifications. They understand the regulatory context behind the documents they translate, not just the vocabulary.

The difference

What makes financial services translation different

The problems that decide whether this work succeeds or has to be done twice.

The reporting framework decides the terminology
IFRSUS GAAPLocal GAAP

IFRS, US GAAP and local GAAP use different terms for related concepts, and the correct target term depends on which framework the statement was prepared under - not on what a dictionary offers. A translator without an accounting background produces text that reads fluently and misstates the accounting. Our financial translators have professional or academic backgrounds in the field.

Regulatory documents have fixed formulations

Prospectuses, key information documents and supervisory filings contain wording that is prescribed or strongly expected by the authority receiving them. These passages are reproduced, not improved. A translator exercising style judgement on a regulatory formulation has introduced a defect, however well it reads.

Confidentiality is operational, not just contractual

Pre-announcement results and transaction documents are price-sensitive. An NDA is the starting point, not the control. We work with named small teams, controlled file handling and no unnecessary copies - and we can tell you exactly who saw a document and when.

FAQ

Common questions

Yes, and the scheduling matters more than the speed. Reporting deadlines are fixed and the source text usually arrives late and in versions. We plan for that - a named team held available, sections translated as they are finalised, and a final consistency pass across the whole document once the last figures land.

Yes - professional or academic qualification in accounting, finance or compliance, not general translators who accept financial work. Tell us which reporting framework applies and we will confirm the assignment before you commission it.

A named team of the minimum size the deadline allows, individual confidentiality undertakings, secure transfer and controlled retention. If your compliance function needs a specific arrangement, we will work to it.
