ISO 9001:2015 — Quality Management Systems
ISO 9001:2015 is the international standard for quality management systems. It provides the organizational framework behind our translation service — covering management commitment, risk management, supplier qualification, customer feedback, and continuous improvement. Business Team Translations holds this certification alongside ISO 17100:2015, audited externally by Certa-Nova.
While ISO 17100:2015 covers the translation process itself, ISO 9001:2015 covers the quality management system that supports it. Together, the two certifications provide a complete quality framework — one that addresses both what we do and how we manage the organization that does it.
What ISO 9001:2015 Covers
The standard requires documented quality policy and measurable quality objectives, with active management involvement in quality planning and review. Quality is not delegated to a quality department — it is a management responsibility.
ISO 9001:2015 requires systematic identification and mitigation of risks that could affect the quality of our service — including risks related to translator availability, file handling, terminology consistency, and delivery timelines.
All translators and other suppliers are qualified against defined criteria before being used on client projects. Performance is monitored and documented. Suppliers who do not meet our quality requirements are not used again.
The standard requires systematic collection and response to customer feedback — including complaints. Every quality issue is documented, investigated, and resolved through a defined corrective action process.
ISO 9001:2015 requires documented processes for identifying and implementing improvements to the quality management system. This includes internal audits, management reviews, and analysis of quality data.
Regular internal review of quality system effectiveness — verifying that documented processes are being followed and identifying opportunities for improvement before the external audit.
Our Certification History
We first achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2008, audited by TÜV NORD. We subsequently upgraded to ISO 9001:2015 when the standard was revised. Our certifications are currently maintained and audited by Certa-Nova, with annual surveillance audits and full recertification every three years.
ISO 9001:2015 certification is not a self-declaration. It requires external audit verification that our quality management system meets the requirements of the standard in practice — not just in documentation.
